Stepping into college is a new chapter of every student's life..and the most cheerful and bright part of this chapter is living with a roommate.Many of us haven't had this experience before and therefore are excited to begin this wonderful journey and live it to the fullest.
The journey of living with a roommate continues even after we graduate.We have to work at places far away from our home and for some this might be the first time living with a roommate.
Although this brings along a lot of excitement but some are also anxious about how will this work out.So here are some beneficial tips for living with roommate which will for sure make your ride smooth and gripping.
➤ Create a friendly atmosphere.
First meeting with your roommate might be a little awkward since you met for the first time but make sure that you provide a comfort zone .Invite common areas ,try interacting by talking about topic of mutual interest.Disclose some things about yourself.Be agreeable and respect their concerns.
➤ Don't put off conversations.
Good communication is a key to create good bonds so try to get to know them and spend some quality time together.Share your like and dislike with him/her.If you aren't comfortable with something don't hesitate to speak up,it's totally okay .
➤Keep it transparent
Transparency is very important for all kind of relations.Being transparent not only helps to build trust but also positive connection.Be honest to your roommate .Keep it clean ,genuine and open.
➤Respect each other privacy.
When your roommates shares their thoughts and feeling honestly it's your duty to ensure that all their secrets are safe with you.Give them some space ,being friendly with your roommate is must but at times when they need their own "Me time" ,make sure you don't barge in.
➤Keep a track of "Schedule"
It's essential to know the schedule of your roommate .This will not only help you to coordinate easily but also help to keep up with their daily activities. You could easily locate your roommate in hour of need if you are clear with his/her schedule.
➤Split up duties
Since you are at a place far away from your home and you are your own responsibility ,it's should be your priority to keep clean and healthy .Discuss and divide with your roommate all the duties such as making bed,laundry,paying bills,watering plants ,ironing clothes etc.
If you are a college student you might not worry about bills and other factors but for those who are employed and are living all by themselves they must segregate work with their roommates. .
